Loni is a clairvoyant who recently moved to the small town of Crystal Falls and when she has a vision of a child in danger, she knows Clint Harrigan is the only man who can save the young boy, and together, they race to save him and fall in love. Loni MacEwen is a clairvoyant, meaning she has visions of the present, past and future. After moving to the small town of Crystal Falls to escape her past, she has a vision of a boy rafting with his parents. The parents both drown, leaving the boy, Trevor, alone with his dog, Nana. Through the vision Loni knows that the only man who can save the boy is Clint Harrigan, Trevor's biological father.

Clint doesn't believe Loni's vision until he catches the story on the news. Still reluctant to believe the boy is his son, he nevertheless agrees to go searching for the boy in the woods, since rescuers have been unable to find him. Clint decides to take Loni with him incase she has anymore visions. He saddles up some of his horses and he and Loni set out into the woods. It becomes apparent Loni has never been on a horse, or caping and Clint finds himself slowly falling in love with her stubbornness to not need his help. During their search, Clint encourages Loni to embrace her abilities instead of hide from them and she takes his advice and learns how to control her visions so she can more accurately call up a vision of Trevor.
Loni admits to Clint that she has had visions of him her entire life, and always thought of him as her "dream cowboy". Surprisingly, this does not alarm Clint at all, since he has already fallen in love with her over the past few days. But, he knows Loni is wary of getting married because she is still uncomfortable with her power. One night, Clint finds a hot spring and against their better judgment, they profess their love to each other and have sex. For Loni, this is her first time and Clint almost pulls away, but she convinces his otherwise, and neither of them regret anything.
The next day, Loni has a vision of Trevor slicing his shoulder open with a rebounding axe. Clint and Loni arrive in the nick of time, but Trevor has lost a lot of blood, so Clint, being O-negative, performs an emergency transfusion. Trevor is strong enough to survive their hasty ride to the even smaller town of Wagon Wheel, where he is stabilized and moved back to Crystal Falls.
By now, Clint believe that Loni is right-Trevor IS his son. At the hospital, they meet Trevor's grandparents who reveal that their daughter didn't tell Clint only because she didn't want to upset her new relationship with the man she ended up marrying. But, in her will, she stated that if both she and her husband were to die, Clint would get custody of Trevor. The grandparents and Clint are happy with this arrangement.
Back at Clint's ranch, Loni is accosted by reporters. The reporters scare a horse, causing one of Clint's employees to get hurt when he pushed Loni out of the way. Drowned in guilt and knowing her abilities will always draw reporters to her, Loni decides to leave Clint so he doesn't have to deal with her problems while he was forming a relationship with his son. Clint responds to this by implementing an extensive security system, and chasing after Loni to convince her to marry him. Loni agrees.
In the Epilouge, Loni and Clint are living on his ranch, and Trevor and his grandparents are visiting for the weekend. Loni is also pregnant and using her gift to help the local police find missing children. She is at peace with her gift and looking forward to living with Clint and Trevor.
Best part of story, including ending:
I really enjoy the concept of this story and Loni's clairvoyance and her struggle to fit into society without calling attention to her self. My one recommendation is this: this story has heavy religious overtones and can sound preachy, which can be a little off putting to some readers.
Best scene in story:
My favorite scene is at the end with Loni's grandmother. Loni is supposed to meet her grandma at midnight (after she leaves Clint), but Clint gets there first. Loni and Clint are making up when Loni's grandmother drives up. Her grandmother Aislinn is also clairvoyant and thoroughly embarrass Clint and Loni, telling them they need to sleep in separate rooms, etc., capping it off saying that Loni is pregnant and if Clint doesn't marry her, she's going to shoot his balls off. Its a very funny scene.
Opinion about the main character:
Loni's struggles seem real, but I don't like her pulling religion into all her decisions. She seems more like the secondary character because Clint moves the plot along and makes the bigger decisions. Loni gets the story started and ends it, but those are her only two major roles: approaching Clint, then leaving him. For how much the story focused on her, I whish she had more actions.
