This is a re-telling of the Cinderella story with a new ending that differs from the original fairy tale. Freddie Prinze Jr. is the voice of the main character Rick. Rick is the personal servant for the Prince (with the voice of Patrick Warburton). Rick does all the things for the Prince such as polishing his boots, washing his clothes, and flossing his teeth. Rick has to also do kitchen-duty washing dishes. Rick loves Cinderella (with the voice of Sarah Michelle Geller), who he calls “Ella” for short. But Ella has a crush on the Prince. Rick delivers the invitations to the ball at Ella's house. The Evil Stepmother (with the voice of Sigourney Weaver), tells Ella she can go to the ball only after she finishes the tasks on a huge list.

The Wizard (with the voice of George Carlin) runs the Department of Fairytale Land Security with the help of two assistants, Mambo (with the voice of Andy Dick) and Munk (with the voice of Wallace Shawn). The Wizard goes on vacation, to play golf in Scotland, leaving his idiot assistants in charge. All they have to do is keep the scale of good and evil in balance so each fairy tale has a happy ending. Mambo is bored with the same old fairy tales so he wants to tip the scale towards evil to make them more interesting. He jumps up on the scale and almost breaks it in the process.
The Evil Stepmother and her two ugly daughters arrive at the castle, just in the moment when the scale is off balance. The Evil Stepmother hears them talk about the powerful magic so she go to the castle tower to investigate. The Evil Stepmother takes the magic staff and uses the magic to get rid of Mambo and Munk. The Evil Stepmother figures out what happens when she easily tips the scales. In all the fairy tales this has terrible results. She finds the pages in the book of the Cinderella story and sees the ending of her story. She becomes enraged when she sees she gets nothing and Cinderella gets it all.
The Fairy Godmother (with the voice of Lisa Kaplan) is goofy and mixes up the spells. She calls Cinderella, mozzarella and salmonella when she forgets her name. Nevertheless, the Fairy Godmother gets Ella all dressed up as Cinderella. She brings her to the ball as she is supposed to do. But right after Cinderella arrives and the Prince recognizes her as his damsel in distress, who he is supposed to marry, the Evil Stepmother tips the scale towards evil making Cinderella change back to a servant girl. The Prince finds the glass slipper and runs off to look for his Princess. The Evil Stepmother uses the magic staff to summon all the bad guys from Fairytale Land to the castle. Many come including Rumplestiltskin (with the voice of Michael McShane), the Giant from the Jack and the Beanstalk story, trolls, wolves, and witches riding on motorcycle brooms. The Evil Stepmother announces this is the start of “Happily N'ever After!”
Rick and Cinderella have a debate about looking for the Prince. Rick is jealous. They get into an argument. Cinderella runs out. Cinderella looks in the woods for the Prince. She runs into Mambo and Munk. She asks them to help her find the Prince because he is the only one who can make things right. They agree. Rumplestiltskin overhears their plans.
Back at the castle, Rick makes friends with the bad guys by giving them food while they party to the music “Monster Mash” and "Bad to the Bone.” The Evil Stepmother forces the bad guys to find Cinderella and demands they bring her back to the castle. Ricks steals a motorcycle broom and flies off to help Cinderella. Cinderella and her helpers run into a wolf in the woods. They escape. They find the house of the Seven Dwarfs. The Witches and the other bad guys attack the Seven Dwarfs. Cinderella helps fight them off. Rick comes, just in time, to save Cinderella, Mambo, and Munk. Rick flies them all back towards the castle. Rick says they don't have time to look for the Prince and they should fight the Evil Stepmother themselves. They see the Prince below them in the woods, but at that moment they run out of gas. They crash in the woods. Cinderella starts to fall in love with Rick. Rick tells the group to wait while he looks for the Prince. Mambo and Munk tell Cinderella the end of her story is she marries the Prince, but she wants more than just to marry a Prince. The Evil Stepmother finds Mambo, Munk and Cinderella in the woods. She attacks them from her flying broom. Rick returns with the Prince in time to see the Evil Stepmother carry Cinderella off on her broom. Rick forces the Prince to chase after the Evil Stepmother. The Prince is reluctant. Mambo and Munk convince the Prince to save his damsel in distress. The Prince rides his horse to the castle and is immediately captured by trolls. The Seven Dwarfs are also captured. they are all put in the dungeon.
Rick walks back into the castle with Mambo and Monk. They let the three walk right in untouched thinking they are other bad guys. The Evil Stepmother tortures Cinderella in the castle tower. Rick comes in. He fights with the Evil Stepmother. He saves Cinderella from falling down a hole in the floor created by the Evil Stepmother. Then Rick is knocked out. Cinderella fights with the Evil Stepmother. She gets the magic staff away from her. She pushes the Evil Stepmother into the transport making her disappear to another place. Cinderella runs to kiss Rick. Munk and Mambo fix everything back to normal using the magic wand. The Prince gets to save the day in the end, at least this is what he thinks. All the bad guys go back to their proper places in the other stories. The Wizard returns. Rumplestiltskin becomes Uncle Rumpy returning the baby he stole to its mother and helping take care of it. Cinderella and Rick get married with the blessing of the Prince, making the new happy ending. The Evil Stepmother is shown with walruses on a ice float in the freezing cold.

This story has a nice gender twist when the lowly servant dishwasher boy is the one who gets to marry Cinderella in the end.
Best scene in story:
I like the scene where the Prince comes to a river on his horse and he picks up his horse to carry it across to the other side, because it is funny he is so dumb.
Opinion about the main character:
Rick proves he is worthwhile to Cinderella by not accepting his position in life as a limitation and changes the end of the story. This is quite charming; much like what a fairytale prince would actually do if he was a good one.
