Comanche Moon Book Summary and Study Guide

Detailed plot synopsis reviews of Comanche Moon

To Hunter of the Wolf, a Comanche, Loretta Simpson, the daughter of white settlers, is destined to him by prophecy. The fact that they are from two very different worlds means nothing in this historical romance. Hunter of the Wolf, Comanche warrior, widowed when his wife and unborn child were slaughtered in a brutal raid has more reason that most to distrust the white men. Yet when he meets Loretta Simpson, the blonde woman who hasn't spoken since she saw her mother brutalized and murdered in a raid, he knows that she fulfills his prophecy. He pays the Comanche bride price and abducts her from her home where she lives with her aunt, uncle and 12-year-old cousin Amy.

Fighting equally with the idea of a destined mate, and each other, the two become lovers and then friends. Loretta starts to speak and then some of the real sparks fly. They fight and spend time apart, and then get back together with sex scenes that can singe your fingertips. They marry and then separate because Loretta can't bring herself to love him due to her past.

At times it seems like the world around them with the brutality of both sides will tear them apart. This book was so rich with historical details you could almost smell the dust kicked up by the horses when Loretta ran back to Hunter so he could save her cousin who was kidnapped and tormented by comancheros. You could hear the gentleness in his voice when he spoke to his wife's younger cousin as she healed from her traumatic experience. You could feel Loretta's rage as she realized that some of the men in the village were the same who raped and killed her mother.

Finally their love is stronger than the forces around them, and they leave to find a new place where they can live together.
Best part of story, including ending: I loved the historical details, including language of the time. I loved how I felt warm at a cold bus stop because it was midsummer in the book.

Best scene in story: My favorite scene was when Loretta ran back to Hunter because she knew he would save her cousin from the people who kidnapped her.

Opinion about the main character: I like Hunter's patience and even temper. I like Loretta's grit. I don't care for how wishy-washy she was at times.
