While returning from the Great Bear Lake, Rusty Carlson's plane crashes in the Canadian wilderness. She regains consciousness and finds that she is the sole survivor. She is terrified and thinks it might have been better if she too had died like the rest of the passengers because even if she is alive she couldn't survive in the wilderness. Vietnam vet Cooper Landry despises women like Rusty who are all businesslike, pretty but can't survive in real life situations. He thinks that she had spent the weekend with her older sugar daddy. Rusty had spent the weekend with her dad on a hunting trip. Rusty's brother, Alex had been killed in an accident so she thought she would accompany her father to the trip. She wasn't any good and her dad was disappointed in her.
Rusty doesn't realizes that she had been hurt, but when she passes out Cooper finds that her leg had been pretty badly hurt and she had lost a lot of blood. He tends to her injuries, makes a makeshift sledge and drags her, while covering the wilderness. Rusty becomes very ill because the infection in her leg, but Cooper takes care of her. One day while Cooper is gone to find out some food Rusty sees a man looking more like a bear than a human being and screams. Cooper runs to her and finds Quinn Gawrylow and his son, Rueben.
Both men take Cooper and Rusty to their cabin, they tell Cooper that the next day they could cross the river, go to the nearest town and call for help. The next day Cooper and Rueben leave for the town while Quinn and Rusty stay behind because Rusty is still not totally well and can't make the long journey. Quinn suddenly attacks Rusty and tells that Rueben will kill Cooper and Quinn and Rueben will keep her. Cooper comes storming into the cabin and kills Quinn. He tells that a little far from the cabin Rueben tried to kill him but killed in the process.
Cooper and Rusty clean the cabin and start living in the cabin. One night they can't control their lust anymore and make love. The next day they are rescued by a private helicopter which had been hired by Rusty's father for her rescue. After returning back to US. There is no contact between Cooper and Rusty. Rusty's father wants to use Cooper's influence in Roger's Cap to exploit the area for his real estate business.
One day Cooper comes to visit Rusty and they make love, Rusty's father comes to Rusty's place when Cooper is still there. He tells Cooper about his real estate plans but Cooper refuses and angrily leaves. Rusty has a fight with her father and tells them she can't try to do everything his father had planned for his son. She tells him that she is pregnant with Cooper's child and is going to him.
Best part of story, including ending: I like the story because of the relationship development between the main characters is nicely done.

Best scene in story: My favorite scene is when Rusty confronts her father and tells him that she can't do everything he wanted for her dead brother.

Opinion about the main character: I dislike Cooper due to his misbehavior towards Rusty.
