Detailed plot synopsis reviews of Prudence

Prudence is mystified by her new boyfriends seeming lack of interest in her sexually, but when she goes for a visit to his family home the reasons behind his behavior become clearer. Prudence meets Pendle at a party, and despite his not being her usual type continues to date him. She is mystified when he does not make any attempts to sleep with her, despite all her best efforts to tempt him, and when he invites her for a break at his family home she sees it as a good sign and agrees.

Pendle's family are intriguing, his beautiful mother is always overspending and dating inappropriate men, but it is his brother's wife that surprises Prudence the most, she looks exactly like her. Maggie is married to Jack, Pendle's brother but she used to date Pendle and it becomes clear to Prudence that Pendle is still in love with Maggie and it was her resemblance that attracted him.

Jack is an incorrigible flirt, and tries it on with Prudence whenever he gets the chance, delighting in winding Maggie up. Pru tries to resist him, but enjoys the flattery and the confidence boost, especially as Pendle can't keep away from Maggie. Then in the midst of all this Pendle's elder brother, Ace returns with his highly annoying girlfriend Berenice.

A heavy snow storm delays Prudence returning home to London, and then she catches flu and is bed ridden while Pendle goes back to the city. Ace is older and stern, but he looks after Prudence throughout her illness, and entertains her as she recovers, keeping Jack away and trying to explain Pendle's cold behavior. Pru inevitably falls for him during this time, and eventually returns miserable to London.

A few unhappy weeks later, Pru answers her flat door to find Ace there, who confesses that he is in love with her and she tells him she feels the same.
Best part of story, including ending: I like Pru's irrepressible spirit; she is determined to have fun despite all odds against it

Best scene in story: I love the scene where Pru is jealous of the cat getting his tummy scratched by Ace....

Opinion about the main character: I like the way that Pru deals with the crazy situation she has been dumped in, and always makes the most of it
