Stephanie's first serious boyfriend from many years ago was Troy; he was always spending her money and never contributing to bills, and she had eventually kicked him out of their flat under pressure from friends and met George who is older and takes care of her. But now Troy has returned to the town to take care of his mother's affairs as she has just died, and he wants to see Stephanie.

Stephanie meets up with Troy, and initially rejects his advances, but eventually succumbs to his practiced charm and begins an affair with him. Meanwhile she starts work for Madeleine and discovers that rather than being an agency for personal assistants PA actually stands for Perfect Alibis and the company provides alibis and back up evidence for women conducting affairs outside of their marriages.

Things come to a head when Troy's wife turns up in the town, and George finds out about Stephanie's affair. Stephanie realizes that Troy is still the manipulative player that he always was, and works to win George back. He forgives her, admitting that he had not appreciated her and that part of the blame lay with him.
Best part of story, including ending: I liked the way adultery was justified, I don't necessarily agree but it was well done

Best scene in story: I liked the sex toy party scene, it was interesting how the different women coped with the situation

Opinion about the main character: I thought Stephanie was a bit indecisive and downtrodded but her character was well written and the way she got into the affair with Troy was easy to sympathize with
