Gussie invites Octavia for a weekend on a boat with herself, Jeremy and a friend , Gareth. Gareth turns out to be a successful business man who sees Octavia for what she is, and constantly thwarts her plans to seduce Jeremy. Despite Gareth's interference, Octavia manages to steal Jeremy away from Gussie, but as soon as she has him she realizes that she no longer wants him, and is actually falling for Gareth

On their return to London, Jeremy begs Octavia to take the blame so she apologizes to Gussie, desperate to redeem herself in Gareth's eyes, but Gussie has realized that Jeremy isn't really then man for her anyway.

Octavia is hit with a further blow when her father's company gets into trouble and none other than Gareth is called in to help. He immediately cuts off her allowance and tells her to move out of the flat that is paid for by the company. Octavia believes she can make easy money modelling as she has done in the past, but finds it very hard work and is repeatedly fired which destroys her already fragile confidence.

With bills to pay and nowhere to live Octavia eventually manages to get an admin job at a small company, and find a flat share. However, she is still unable to pay her debts and so turns as a last resort to nude modelling. Whilst the session is going on and Octavia is miserable and humiliated Gareth bursts in, smashes up the studio and destroys the film…

It becomes clear that Gareth has been in love with Octavia for a while,, and he had engineered her job, making sure no one in the office hit on her, but was too unsure of her feelings to declare his love. However the nude photo-shoot was too much for him to take, so he confesses his feelings and Octavia admits she loves him too.
Best part of story, including ending: I like the way the author manages to make Octavia likeable even though she is actually a mean girl, at least to begin with

Best scene in story: I like the scene with the photo shoot, just when Octavia is at rock bottom Gareth rescues her.

Opinion about the main character: I like Octavia's courage, she has obviously had a hard childhood but does not let it destroy her.
