I selected your book The Outside shot because I have read many books by you including books like Slam, Fallen Angels, The Beast, and of course Hoops. My favorite part of the book is when Lonnie was found innocent of the charges for him shaving points. I especially liked how they had one man from the Brotherhood there backing him up. Although Lonnie never shaved points he still did receive money from the fat man and played hoops against the mill boys for money.
What I have noticed that is unique about you're style of writing is the old school street language you used in Hoops. And although Lonnie now sounds like a proper English speaking college boy you can still tell sometimes how he used to talk. One of the connections I made to the book was text to self. Because I played on my middle school basketball team and was doing really well as a starter. Until I failed off the team rite before the playoffs in which we lost the first game. And Lonnie was in Jeopardy of being not only off the team but he could have had to leave the school. One thing I learned from reading this book as well as my personal findings. Is that if you want to succeed in school sports you also need to succeed in the school and stay away from all illegal things. I enjoy you taking your time to read my letter to you.

I love all of Walter Dean Myers Books, most of them i could really relate to. For example, have you check out the streak. It's a short story about this guy named Jamie who at first had bad luck but then later had a streak of good luck. It's a great story, i also recommend Hoops, it a good book which most of it is about Basketball.
