Reece Gilmore has been drifting from one town to another searching for her identity after having her life ruined by a gunning incident. Two years ago, a senseless shooting in her restaurant has caused the lives of her dear friends and coworkers. She has been shot twice in the chest and is the only one who has lived to tell about it. After the incident, she became depressed, anxious and full of mental illness. After a more than a year in psychology rehab, she packs her things and decides to get back to a life worth living without the use of drugs or shrinks. Following signs that direct her journey, she ends up at Angel Fist, Wyoming. She decides to work as a cook in the town to earn money since she is low in cash before she fless to another town. But the hospitality and warmth of the townspeople have her staying in the town for a more longer time.

However her neuroses, nightmares and anxiety attacks erupt again after seeing a man strangle a woman to death. She runs into Brody who is the only one who believes her. When the sheriff finds no trace of strangulation in the area, the townpeople starts to doubt her and with her background on having mental illness, they regard her as crazy. But Reece knows that she is not imagining things and Brody believes her. When she sees her things getting misplaced without her knowing Reece,who is a neat freak bordering on obsessive compulsive behavior, starts to believe that she is losing her mind again, forgetting doing those things she has done. She almost run away to check herself into a mental hospital again when Brody insists that she is not crazy and tells her that somebody is deliberately messing with her things to make her feel and act like as a loony and discredit her capability as a witness to a murder.
Brody takes one look into Reece deep blue eyes and is a goner. He is interested with Reece's fascinating life and quirks. When she runs to him to tell about witnessing a murder, his years as an investigative reporter tells him that Reece is stating the truth. Knowing her life 2 years ago impresses him for Reece has bravely taken the initiative to get herself well again and take a chance on the life she wants. When Reece's apartment has been broken into, he brings her into his house to watch over her and protect her. Reece has never trusted anyone again after the incident 2 years ago. But with Brody's no-nonsense attitude, she is surprised to find safety in his arms. Brody is brutally honest with her and that makes her trust on him more. She enters into a relationship with Brody has felt alive and happy than she has ever been.
When nobody believes them that she has witness a murder, they take it to themselves to track down the murderer. The trail leads them to the men of Angel Fist. As they near the truth, the murderer's stunts escalate by appearing mysteriously and frighteningly in front of Reece resulting to Reece almost having a mental breakdown. But with Brody's love, Reece stamps down her anxiety and neuroses to take down the murderer.
