Laura Ingalls Wilder remembers her childhood and tells the story of her family moving into the unsettled Dakota Territory. Here she struggles to cope with the loss of the family dog, Jack and of her sister's blindness. She helps her older sister by describing their new surroundings as well as her new home. Laura also rides a horse and with her family gets through a cold winter.
