She is having a tepid relationship with designer and suddenly she finds that she yearns for something more out of life. Out of the blue, she finds that she is romantically attacted to her mentor Davidov and though she feels an answering spark in hime he refuses to acknowledge it.

But after five years, something between them has suddenly changed and their stormy passions which are a daily part of their dance routines now kindle something else in them to life when both are partnered for a new ballet featuring Ruth as the sensual and evocative gypsy beauty carlotta and Nickolai as the imperious and insufferable prince. Both fight hard to control the rising attaction and it is a lost battle even at the outset.

We also see Lindsay and Seth Bannion settled into marital bliss and total accord with two children and Lindsay is a very good friend to both Ruth and Nick.

Unable to fight the rising attaction, both of them get into a stormy relationship which is further complicated due to the meshing of their professional lifes in the company. For Nick this is his most important relationship while for Ruth it is her first. So both of them are vary of each other and afraid to trust.

There is a videotaping for a TV program and the pressure on both of them is tremendous as they plough their way through the taping and their lives and after a grand misunderstanding both of them try to come to terms with each other and their roles in each others' lives.
