She becomes friendly with a young lieutenant, who is infatuated with her. The man's brother is a powerful duke and advisor to the Prince Regent who believes that Sarah is nothing more than a high price courtesan trying to seduce his brother into an unsuitable marriage and gain his wealth.
The Duke of Ormond, not believing that a woman of Sarah's profession is anything but mercenary decides to make Sarah his mistress and show his brother the kind of woman she really is.
