Harry Potter is a normal wizard living with his aunt and uncle in the non wizarding world. He grew up believing that he was a normal boy whose parents died from a car accident. One night on the eve of his eleventh birthday, a giant name Hagrid came to see him with a letter from Dumbledore, the headmaster of Hogwarts (school of witches and wizards). He found out that he wasn't a normal boy who misses his parents. He found out that he was a wizard, which explained the weird things that happened when he became angry and his ability to communicate with snakes. He learned that he was famous in the wizarding world, for being the only wizard who survived the Dark Lord Voldemort. He also learned that his Parents died while fighting Voldemort. Now that Harry is a sixth year student at Hogwarts and has fought and survived voldemort attack twice the previous years. His Godfather Sirus Black died this year and he was not excited on going back to school. Being responsible for Voldemort's fall, danger is just right the corner. The only thing that he is looking forward to is Dumbledore coming to escort him to the Burrow's, his best friend Ron's house. While at school, Harry alongside Dumbledore started a quest to destroy the seven horcxus that would make it possible to kill Voldemort. Harry recently found out that in the prophecy, he is the only one who will be able to kill Voldemort. Their quest made Harry and Dumbledore closer than ever. Many killings and attacks have occured ever since Voldemort has gained power and has assembled his group who called themselves the death eaters. Then one night after returning from one of their quest, they saw a deatheater mark on the sky above Hogwarts. Knowing that the school has been attacked, Dumbledore ordered Harry to put on his invisibility cloak. Then Dumbledore was killed by Severus Snape, Voldemort's right hand man and a professor at Hogwarts.

Harry Potter is awaiting Headmaster Dumbledore's arrival at his Muggle Aunt's house in Privet Drive, who storms in and whisks him away to pursue '...that flighty temptress, adventure' and they manage to persuade Professor Slughorn to return to Hogwarts. Lord Voldemort, meanwhile, has been busy...
Once in school, Harry is shocked to find that Snape has the Defence Against the Dark Arts job, while Slughorn takes Potions. Also, Draco Malfoy is up to something, but no one listens to Harry on this point, not even his best friends Ron and Hermione. An old, scrbbled book belonging to the elusive Half-Blood Prince makes Harry a star Potions student. Dumbledore starts giving him private lessons and together they uncover Tom Riddle's past in the hope of finding a way to make him mortal.

It's Harry Potter's 6th year at Hogwarts School of Wizardary. The headmaster himself, Albus Dumbledore, picks up Harry from his aunt and uncle's house, so that he can stay with his friend, Ron Weasley. He makes Quidditch Captain. He's finally received results of his O.W.L.S. (Ordinary Wizarding Levels), and did not get a good enough grade in Potions class to continue in his pursuit to be an Auror (Wizarding Police), or so he thinks. A new teacher has arrived at Hogwarts, taking over the Potions classes, and Harry's grade allows him to continue, however, he didn't pick up any supplies or the required book needed. This doesn't pose a problem, as the new Potions teacher, Professor Slughorn, lets Harry borrow a textbook. Harry finds this textbook filled with notations and other spells that will help him in Potions and other classes as well. The book belongs to the "Half-Blood Prince". Professor Dumbledore advises Harry that he will be giving him "special" lessons, which turn out to be delving into the memories of other wizard's, mostly to understand Lord Voldemort (He Who Shall Not Be Named) was as a student while at Hogwarts.
Due to the Potions book, Harry exceeds all the other students in Potions, causing Hermione (one of Harry's closest friends), to question the book's origins, or whether it should even be used. Even after Harry receives a new book from a magical bookstore, he switches covers, and continues to use the "Half-Blood Prince's" book.
Harry's Quidditch team is beset by problems, temporarily losing two members to injuries. One of the temporary replacements tries to take over as Captain and Harry must deal with this problem as well as normal school work. In the end, however, the team, now with both members back, wins the last game, and the famed Quidditch cup.
On the front with the fight against He Who Shall Not Be Named, is not going well. Wizards are disappearing, and many wonder if they have been kidnapped, or have joined the "other" side.
In the end, however, the wizarding world is dealt a serious blow when an ally is revealed to be working for Lord Voldemort.

Harry Potter enters his sixth year at Hogwarts during an extremely turbulent, troubled time. The headmaster, Albus Dumbledore, arranges to hold 'lessons' with Harry, using memories in the Pensieve to help unfathom Lord Voldemort's past and better understand his weaknesses. The Dark Lord, meanwhile, has his spies and followers working everywhere to terrorize the regular wizarding community.
Although the Defense Against the Dark Arts class has been taken over, horrifically enough, by Professor Snape, the New Potions master, Professor Slughorn, has taken a keen interest in Harry - a good thing, considering that Harry needs to aquire a memory from Professor Slughorn that may be a pivotal key in unlocking a secret of Lord Voldemort. It doesn't hurt, either, that Harry is using a second-hand potions book that has previously belonged to 'the Half-Blood Prince' - Harry's class performances are flawless, thanks to the tips scrawled in the margins of the book.
Harry faces many other challenges along the way, including his new role as captain of the Gryffindor Quidditch Team - and a lot of romance.
