On Parole From Church Book Review Summary

Detailed Plot Synopsis of On Parole From Church

Ben Dreyer is raised in small town rural South Africa. Although a believer, he is as eager to escape institutional religion as he is to escape the small town syndrome after graduating from school, and to disappear into the anonymity of the big city. Finally he gains the freedom to explore and pursue the intellectual questions of life without restraint.
After marrying a divorcee, he gets drawn back to church together with his wife. It is only when the church decrees that they may no longer live together because of his wife's prior marriage, that Ben truly faces up to and examines the real questions that most believers never get around to.
