One Bullet Away is the story of a young man who comes of age as an officer in the U.S. Marine Corps. This autobiographical account takes the reader and author from the Dartmouth college campus to the rigoruous training fields of Quantico and Camp Lejune to prepare for combat in Iraq and Afhganistan as a leader of Recon Marines the elite of the elite. Fick describes in great detail how he matured along with his Marines and the conditions they endure. He tells what motivates people to become Marines. Fick left the Marine Corps as a Captain.
