Raising Dragons Book Summary and Study Guide

Detailed plot synopsis reviews of Raising Dragons

Billy, a modern-day teenager, is being teased Dragon Breath at school because his breath is unusually hot. He tries to conceal this problem from everyone, hoping that it will somehow go away. One day, when his breath sets off the sprinklers in the school's bathroom, Billy understands that he is dealing with something serious. A conversation with his parents leads to a shocking revelation: Billy learns that his father is actually a dragon who lives in a human form, and therefore Billy is a dragon as well. Scorching breath is only normal for the species.

Blown away by the discovery, Billy wants to know more about his heritage. He learns that there is a small population of dragons living in hiding, pretending to be humans, like him. Soon enough, Billy finds out that there is a downside to being a dragon: there is an ancient group of dragon-slayers bent on hunting down and eliminating all dragons. One of these black knights has caught track of Billy after the sprinklers incident. Now Billy must run for his life, using his dragon skills very carefully.
