Run Cleo Run Book Summary and Study Guide

Sarge allows herself to be sold in a slave auction in order to get close to a cyborg who had a map of the underground city. She prances around a bit on the walkway, and when she gets close, she grabs a gun and shoots his bodyguards. Then she reaches into his body and steals the device which has the map. Then Sarge runs away. But she's wearing a collar that's going to detonate in 10 minutes and she has mutants chasing her.

Meanwhile, in the lab Voice says that Cleo and not Hal should be the one to rendezvous with Sarge. Hal is incredulous but reluctantly agrees to go along. They plug Cleo into a machine which allows her to think about the possibilities of what will happen on this mission. (Note: this machine seems to know everything about the terrain and the people in this area--how can it be so accurate?)

So Cleo goes through a simulation (only, she doesn't know it's a simulation) where she tries to rescue Sarge. But she goes slowly with the webcrawler, landing on the wrong level. And then, when she gets trapped in a room full of mutants, she wastes time doing a song. Then she loses further time tiptoeing through a room with a lot of debris. Sarge's collar explodes just as she gets there.

So Cleo tries again, this time getting through the obstacles more quickly, but when she gets to the end she accidently shoots Sarge, and a mutant shoots her.

Then Cleo has to do it for real. This time she does it even faster, using her web spinner to swing past the room full of junk. She's smart enough to toss her laser to Sarge so she can shoot her own collar off. Sarge gets the collar off and jumps but the explosion causes her to fall, and Hal arrives at the last minute and saves her.

What's not clear from this episode is how long it took Cleo to "think" through the different scenarios--could it really have been as quick as a second or two?
