   Catriona, called the Lady of the Vale, has the mystical powers, and sees a vision of the man who who will be the father of her children, Richard.
    Even though she does not to marry, she and Richard feel a strong attraction to each other. When Richard agrees to the marriage, Catriona fights it but in the end, goes with the decision.
   Richard and Catriona are fighting a growing love for each other, thinking the other does not have any feelings. In addition, Catriona and Richard have an unknown enemy who is reeking havoc upon the vale. Together, they fight danger and their lust growing into something more.

This is the 3rd book in the "Cynster Series" by Stephanie Laurens. Richard Cynster, AKA Scandal, has gone to Scotland to investigate a claim he's learned of that comes from his birth mothe, and meets a beautiful "Lady of the Vale" Catriona. Catriona senses deep regret and passion in Scandal and seeks to avoid him, but she can't avoid the message from the Goddess stating that Scandal will be the father of her children!   Though the elements seem put against them, Richard and Catriona set off on a path that takes them deep into the past, and into one another's hearts.
