Schoolteacher Madison Winters finds herself on a plane headed to Wyoming in order to track down her missing mother. When Madison makes the acquaintance of Stone Westmoreland, the sexy man seated next to her on the plane, she confides in him her troubles. Several weeks ago, Madison's mother traveled to Wyoming with a group of female friends and failed to return home along with the group. Although Madison has received cryptic phone messages from her mother assuring her that she is fine, Madison is afraid that her mother has fallen under the influence of a disreputable man. Madison has learned that her mother rode off with a mysterious mountain man and is living with him in the mountains. Stone, who is otherwise known as the famous writer Rock Mason, is traveling to Wyoming in order to write his next bestseller and to visit his cousin Durango and uncle Corey. As Stone listens to Madison's tale he gets a sneaking suspicion that the mountain man is his Uncle Corey, an unrepentant bachelor. When the plane lands, Stone is greeted at the airport by Durango, who informs him that Uncle Corey is holed up at his cabin with a woman. Once Madison learns this information, she joins forces with Stone to head into the mountains and track down her mother. As Stone and Madison embark on their journey both of them realize that a dangerous passion is building between them. Stone is determined to make love to Madison and get her out of his system while Madison is determined to wrangle her way into Stone's heart.
