While the children are away with their father, Suzanna and Holt begin an affair, and find each other falling madly in love, just like their ancestors. When the children come back early because they embarrassed their father, Suzanna stands up for them and Holt hits her ex when he tries to hurt her. Afterward Holt proposes to Suzanna, and she accepts.

The story isn't over though, because the jewel thief returns, and walks in on Suzanna after she finds the Calhoun emeralds. He takes Suzanna to the tower and is threatening to kill her unless she gives him the emeralds. Holt and the rest of the family comes to save her, but will they be too late?
