Amanda Caulden leads a very scheduled life which she cherishes until Hank Montgomery comes into her life and tries to free her. Hank tries to make her see the injustices her father does to the workers to keep his crops prospering. He opens her eyes to many things, even to the fact that he too is trying to run her life in his own way. When she has the courage to leave her father and fiance's strict and domineering ways, she has to first learn to be herself before she can learn to love anyone else.
