Dorian Hawkmoon has been killing himself with sadness as his decision to save his friend Count Brass meant that his wife Yisselda died. But Hawkmoon is convinced that there is a way to bring back his wife and the two children that he also lost. When Katinka Van Bak asks for his help in the Bulgar Mountan state something tells Hawkmoon that this is his chance to save his wife. He begins a journey that will take him back through his incarnations of the eternal champions till he becomes Queen Ilian of Garathorm and must fight to save this world and the life of his wife Yisselda.
