In Pueblo, Colorado after two decades of marriage, forty-six years old Trudy just separated from her husband Rick, who has a younger model. Shandelle's brother-in-law takes Jade to a nearby gym because she wants to become a boxer as she once knocked out a male mugger with one punch. At the gym her trainer is Rueben Perry. As Jade and Rueben train together, they fall in love. Meanwhile Rick pleads with Trudy to take him back, Roberta adjusts to widowhood, and Shandelle begins writing her book as they all watch Jade fight professionally in the ring.
This is an entertaining look at three generations of women each having a different type of male relationship problem. The story line rotates between the four females as each has a story to tell. Though profanity is used, it seems apropos to the situation and not used for shock value. Readers will find THE GODDESSES OF KITCHEN AVENUE charming and enjoyable as each one struggles with a personal crisis.
