No idea what the foreign exchange rates are unless you go abroad on holiday? Perhaps you should take more notice. Your pension could vapourise overnight, your firm could fold, your country could be pauperised - when America sneezed in 1929, the western world caught a cold too. Galbraith's tells the story with technical aplomb and superb wit. His thesis is that can happen again, and that it will. Only by keeping the memory of how it all happened can we prevent a recurrence. Passing laws and regulations are no real barrier to the nightmare returning.
