Gemma Kenyon is a bright student studying at Oxford University when her close friend Angie comes up with the idea of a scientific love experiment. Angie explains to Gemma and their two roommates, Joy and Lisa, that a woman can make any man fall in love with her using a simple formula. As Angie explains it, as long as a woman knows a man's preferences, habits, lifestyle and romantic history, she can model herself after his perfect mate then present herself to the subject. Although Gemma is a bit skeptical she joins in with the others when they decide to put Angie's experiment to the test when they travel to Zermatt, Switzerland on their school break. The girls decide to target a handsome playboy named Paul Verignac, who they saw featured in a magazine. According to the tabloids, Paul is a wealthy and handsome rogue who is a great athlete and has a notorious past with dozens of women. After doing research on Paul the girls discover that he likes tall, blue eyed blondes with suntans. The girls dub the experiment The Ice Maiden. Much to Gemma's chagrin the girls decide that she will wear a blonde wig and contacts in order to become Paul's idea woman. Although Gemma is a bit underwhelmed by the idea, she gives in to the girls' pleadings and decides to take on the role of Paul's living breathing fantasy. As Gemma intentionally throws herself into Paul's path she manages to get up close and personal to Paul, who the girls call Mr. X. Although Gemma and Paul get off to a rocky start, Gemma starts to warm up to Paul when she realizes that he is a kind and sensitive man. As Gemma and Paul's romance kicks into high gear and Emma starts falling in love with Paul, she fears that she will lose him when she tells him that their relationship is nothing more than an experiment.
