Prudence and Robin are on the run from political intrigue. To allay suspicion they cross dress, Prudence becomming a man, and Robin a girl. This makes for obvious complications when Prudence begins to fall in love with the hero, not helped by their errant father who arrives in London, not secretly, but trumpeting himself as the long-lost heir of a Dukedom.
