Jane is a teenager who lives on a futuristic Earth, where robots are common. She meets Silver, a special robot who acts, talks and looks human (with the exception of his silver skin). She falls in love with him, even though he's a machine that can't love another person. Or can he? In Silver she finds her soulmate, the only man she can ever love.

However, just as things start going well in their relationship, Jane and Silver must face the executives of Electronic Metals, the company who manufactures robots like Silver. They tear Jane and Silver apart. Jane is heartbroken, but from her experience she learns more about life and the world around her.
