The Way We Weren't Review Book Summary and Study Guide

A flashback to a time when Aeryn was working for the peacekeeper and blasted Pilot's predecessor.

This was an episode with interesting twists and turns. Aeryn pretended to fall in love with the sensitive peacekeeper but in reality was spying on him so she could use her betrayal to get her fighting commission back. Evidently she'd rather ride a fighter than... well....

We learn for the first time that Pilot is in constant pain from his connection with Moya; funny we never heard that before. Also if he could establish a partial connection now, enough to drive the ship, why did they have to used the forced connection earlier? And can Pilot pick up and leave anytime he wants to? What does/did Pilot eat when he wasn't connected to Moya? Why does Pilot want to travel in Moya, when he never gets to leave the ship or see anything?

The part I found hard to believe was that Pilot forgave Aeryn too quickly; too consumed was he with his own guilt. I didn't think that was very realistic. Aeryn's guilt trip (sort of a recurring plotline), is getting a bit much, but it had a fun story behind it.
