The Italian Catholic, Al, and the Russian Jewish immigrant, Jake, come from their birth countries and upon arriving in America become business partners and steadfast friends. Their families always celebrated all religious holidays together with their children trimming Christmas trees, dyeing eggs for Easter, kneading dough for challah and lighting the Hanukkah Menorah. When the unthinkable happens, i.e., the kids fall in love and marry, there is a schism within the families, which permeates throughout the next generations leading to a completely unexpected ending.
