Dela Reese's paranormal talent for metal does not prepare her for the magical appearance of a two thousand year old, shape-shifting, warrior during a shopping trip to China. Hari, the shape-shifting warrior, doesn't think his sudden appearance in Dela's bedroom is a barrelful of laughs either. In fact, each time Hari is released from the riddle-box that Dela has purchased, he is forced to do the bidding of his master-- wether he likes it or not.

When Dela assures him that she does not want anyone to be killed, Hari assumes that Dela wants him to be her sex slave. Surprised, Dela quickly convinces him that she is NOT interested in having sex with him. To prove her sincerity, she asks Hari to tell her the terms of his imprisonment inside the riddle-box. Horrified by what she hears, Dela vows to help Hari to break the spell of the riddle-box.
In the meantime, both Hari and Dela must solve the mysterious attempts on Dela's life, as their relationship develops. Could the killer be the magician who placed Hari in the riddle-box in the first place? Or is there someone else who knows the secret of the riddle-box?
