3 teenage kids are spending their summer in a hospital. Brent has landed there by falling through a trap door in a barn and breaking his back. Brent becomes friends with Kirk and Amy. Amy is in the hospital for what her Mom has told her is Mono but she suspects that it is something worse. Kirk is there after hip surgery, his hip joint is not growing at the same rate as his leg bones and the doctors had to pin him back together.
