The teenagers spend a lot of time talking about life and figuring out ways to drive the staff nuts. Such as when Kirk fakes throwing his hip out to get the Nurse to call a Doctor in, and when the Dr. arrives he is sitting in his wheelchair and states nothing had happened. They also talk about how they are similar to being in a “Three Legged Race” and that you need the help of someone else to get to the finish line.

The three even plan to escape the hospital one night and head out into the world supporting each other, acting like normal teenagers, with a wheel chair, crutches and a back brace.
