The production of 1776 may not be historically accurate but it certainly formatted to teach the overall concept- gaining indpendence was not easy and there were many people who put their life on the line-for an idea-it had never been done before.
Though 1776 is rather a light-hearted look at the whole process- it also presents a certain haunting view as we hear the expressions of men who founded this country in song.
It is an excellent teaching tool- and should not be missed by any teacher in presenting The Declaration of Independence and that time period.
