Bob Brrier posts on 12/17/2008 8:29:55 AM Dear Rosemary, Soemone just sent me you comment'question. (I'm not a surfer of webs.) You ask a very good question. Remember, the theory is not perfect and I think you have hit on a small problem. What looks like an external ramp is the walkway that Jean-Pierre thinks was needed for the workmen to go down after hauling a block up the pyramid. For me the problem is how to attach the walkway to the surface fo the pyramid without damaging it. I think they probably walked down one side of the internal ramp. Hope this helps. Good luck with your research paper. Bob Brier
Rosemary Savage posts on 11/26/2008 2:33:49 AM Dear Mr. Brier, I'm writing a report on Jean-Pierre Houdin's internal ramp theory for my freshman writing class in Science and Engineering at the University of Rochester. Phil, who is teaching the course, specializes in old building architecture, so I really cannot get away with not understanding some aspect of the theory. I understand most of it, but the Daussalt Systemes CGI has me slightly confused. To me, the Great Pyramid seems to be depicted with the internal ramp, but with an outside spiral ramp in addition to that. If the external spiral ramps were used to allow workers to come back down the outside of the pyramid, how were they covered or removed later? I also don't understand how the corners were filled in. I read your book and went on the Daussalt Systems website, but neither addresses the issue very well. If you could explain it to me, or perhaps direct me to an English version of M. Houdin's paper, I would be extremely grateful (I can read more French than I can speak, but probably not enough to get me through a paper). Thank you, Rosemary
teresa posts on 11/18/2008 1:50:52 PM Dear Bob, Just wanted to let you know that you are my favorite go-to guy for everything Egypt. Dr Hawass really drives me nuts. My one question is... if King Tut was one of the lesser kings, how come his tomb was so fantastic? What the heck would Rameses have had in his? My other question is...could you do a show on how the Egyptians made the reliefs and carvings? How did they make the funeral mask of King Tut? Anyway, look forward to seeing you in other things. Teresa

Bill Shanahan posts on 11/17/2008 5:40:41 PM Hello Bob. I love your work as well as your newest special. I've been fascinated with Egyptology for over 20 years and I have a few questions I've never seen addressed. Why wouldn't the Egyptians have used the power of elephants to drag massive stones? Why would they build the Sphinx inside an enclosure which would continually fill up with sand? Why would the blocks removed to create the Sphinx enclosure be so massively large (+100 tons)? Thank you for your time.

susan manser posts on 2/7/2008 2:20:59 PM Hi I really believe that the life and times of the heretic king Akhenaten would be the most interesting and informative movie about Ancient Egypt. There was so much going on at that particular time in Egypt's history - fascinating.
John Sutherland posts on 11/17/2007 12:07:19 AM Is there a DVD where Bob talks about the mummy he created?
posts on 7/23/2006 7:01:18 PM Does anyone have a way to e-mail him directly?I would love to let him know how much I enjoy his work.
Susan Manser posts on 2/19/2006 3:30:34 PM Hi Bob Just a quicky to say that you give the best and clearest explanations of any Egyptologist I have ever listened to. You are a pleasure to listen to and I have learned a lot from you. I visit local schools and talk about the present and ancient cultures of Egypt and get a lot of what I discuss with the children from you. Thank you and please continue to enlighten everyone with your distinct teaching method. Thanks again. Susan Manser
Jim Nicolai posts on 11/10/2005 4:36:42 PM I would like to see Bob do a documentary on the Shroud of Turin. I saw his amazing documentary of the birth date of Jesus and the three kings. An amazing and convincing presentation. It is the first time I have seen him/YOU(?). He has an air of creditability about him, along with some amazing evidence he presents. If possible I would love to hear from him about the possibility of doing a Shroud presntation. Thanks much and God bless.
