Jackie Sheehan posts a message on 6/9/2005 8:18:04 PM This song in the movie was actually sung by the actor and sans a soundtrack you are at the mercy of the film editors for ripping the song from the DVD recording. here is what I previously posted about this particular song in the movie .... 17 43:33 "Raglan Road" Written by Patrick Kavanagh This was the 4th song in the singing contest that Marcie was asked to judge. It was the eventual winning song and sung beautifully by the man in the white sweater. A good version of this song and many other songs from this film can be found on a Van Morrison album titled “Irish Heartbeat”. .... now there are very many performers who have recorded this song ...I personally am partial to the recording on Van Morrison's album ...it's not anything like the acapala version in the film but if you are solid on getting that man singing that song ...then I wish you more luck than I've had in getting this soundtrack released from the floor of the recording studio.... good luck to ye !!!
Jessica Osborne posts a message on 6/9/2005 7:59:16 PM I'm a big fan of "The Matchmaker" and like everybody else am trying to hunt down the soundtrack. Specifically, "Raglan Road". I know who it was written by, and that are many versions available. The man who performed it in the movie, however, did a breathtaking performance of it, and I stubbornly don't want anything less. Any idea who he is, if he is also a recorded artist, or know of a simple, poigant performance similar to his?
Jackie Sheehan posts a message on 5/24/2005 8:29:41 PM #5. During both scenes were the limo pull up to the curb to be met by a throng of photographers. Both scenes are simply cuts from on shoot. Check out the short female photographer in the blue coat. She is in the window taking pictures and then on the other side of the open door 1 second later..check out the fact that both the senator and Leary are waering the same clothes depsite the fact that it is two different days..oh everybody is weraing the same clothes..check out the same blue coated Photographer.
Jackie Sheehan posts a message on 5/23/2005 3:38:28 PM Transfering the music from the DVD is very doable however the music itself is in some cases very broken up into little pieces. Fading in and out of scenes dialog ect... and picling up later in the film... You would have a very disconnected soundtrack this way..I'm not sure this would be a viable alternative..but I'll revisit that and see what it would be like if we took the larger tracks and made them stand alone.... I was able to find all of the tracks listed on the film credits (of course the reference to candle in the wind was there ONLY because they had to list it as Marcie was singing her Karaoke "meet me a Kelly's @4pm" song to that tune .... So would we not include that song on the soundtrack but maybe include Marcie's howling instead???
Kevin Catlin posts a message on 5/23/2005 1:43:55 PM My experience has been similar to Jackie's. I also spoke with Doyle and Kennedy who are very nice, obliging people. I bought an obscure CD from an Irish music store and run down leads to no avail. I am not technically savvy enough to know how we might transfer the music from the DVD onto a CD but it might be the final answer.
Jackie Sheehan posts a message on 5/23/2005 8:28:31 AM I have search for a soundtrack as hard as anyone, and then some...here is what I have found. I've emailed many people involved with the movie and some very nice people have replied back. Maria Doyle Kenedy - who incidently is a recording artist herself - and her husband Kieren Kenedy who has the song in the movie "tweleve white horses" ..well back to the point- Maria kindly told me that she thought there was a plan for a soundtrack but that she doesn't think it ever made it out the door. She gave me some contacts and I started emailing them. At the sound studio were much of the recording and mixing was done on the stuidio music (this is the theme songs and the one I am most interested in finding as I was able to get everything else commercially) I email someone who told me that there was a soundtrack made. But that it was never produced or made comercially availble. I begged for a copy and it seemed to me that I got very close to obtaining one but maybe that was just a dream that I had. So there is one out there and I've bothered the producer the exectutive produce, I've bugged the composer of the studio music and his people. I've talk to the sound engineers that worked on it. some of the musicians that performed on it...but that's as close as I've come to beating out of the bushes.... Maybe someone else will have better luck... maybe I should dig out my contact info and publish that for those who want to persue the bugging process... I feel bad that such beautiful music is being wasted by not being released or at least reused. maybe more pressure will get them to rethink their descision or maybe there is a Matchmaker II in the future???? that would be interesting ....
karen d posts a message on 5/22/2005 11:00:49 PM i've wanted this soundtrack forever...i am so happy to have stumbled onto this site....every now and then i search the web for it ..thinking someone came to their senses and did a soundtrack...so i have a question....is there only one shane m. and sinead o. song played in this movie...is "haunted" such a different/beautiful version that it sounds like a another song....or are there two songs....and then what about the last posted message...is there a soundtrack available in ireland and if so can you get it online
