Detailed plot synopsis reviews of Agantuk - The Stranger

One of the later directorial ventures of Oscar winning Indian director Satyajit Ray, the Bengali film "Agantuk" (the native word for stranger) is the story of a globetrotting man named Manmohan Mitra (Utpal Dutt) who returns to India after 25 years. He visits his niece
Anila (Mamata Shankar) in Calcutta, who knows him as a part of the family tree but has never seen him in person. Even as Manmohan gels with the family and enthralls them with his exotic experiences, Anila's husband (Dipankar De) - and to some extent, she herself - suspect the man's true identity and intent.
