Cecile, a 18 years old girl, lives a heedless and carefree life in the circles of the rich bourgeoisie in Paris. Her life has become sad and empty since last summer, a period she spent with Raymond, her womanizing father, on the French Riviera.
There, Anne Larson, invited by Raymond, came to spend the holidays with them. Anne and Raymond soon fell in love and informed Cécile they would marry when they return to Paris. At first delighted by this prospect, Cécile will however changes her mind when Anne starts to give her advice about her sex life and to criticize the way she was spending her free time.
Cécile is going to imagine a machiavelian scheme to get rid of Anne by matching up her father with the gorgeous Elsa. Anne will then choose a dramatic and tragic way to leave Raymond and Cécile to their empty lives.
