Detailed plot synopsis reviews of Confessions of a Sociopathic Social Climber

This is the weirdest role Jennifer Love Hewitt has played till yet. As the name of the movie indicates, Jennifer plays the role of a sociopath in the movie. Her character, Katya Livingston is a young woman in her late twenties who has become an incredibly high achieving ad executive. She works for one of the best advertisement firms in the country and makes more money in a month than a normal person would make in a year. And what does she do for a tax break? She adopts a kid in Africa! Her character is pretty self involved.

Her creativity is undeniable, after all that is what she does for a living, but at the same time she applies most of her creative sense into lying. Even her name ‘Katya' was a lie. Her real name turns out to be Kate! But she is still aspiring for more!
Her life was smooth sailing with the exception of a lot of people who did not like her (like that's going to bother a sociopath!). She thought that she had arrived at the top of the social ladder and as it would for anyone else, her success went right to her head making her believe that she, being Katya Livingston, could do anything and get away with it.
Being drunk on power she upsets a multi millionaire socialite at her wedding and becomes left behind uninvited to the event of the century, The Royal Ball at the Covington castle.
And that is what the whole movie is about! The whole movie is filled with her frenzy attempts at getting an invitation to the ball. With the help from two accomplices she exploits every means to obtain the golden key (the invitation). She goes from requesting to begging to even blackmailing the socialite but all in vain. But no amount of humiliation would stop her!
After she accepts defeat at the hands of the socialite she resorts to other means such as renewing acquaintance with an old stalker! But even that did not work.
Amidst all this craziness she forgets about a huge ad campaign for which she had to create a presentation and loses the deal. Since everyone in this movie is trying to climb one ladder or another, her secretary, who just so happened to be climbing the corporate ladder climbs another step and lands the deal.
Her boss becomes so outraged at her irresponsibility towards such a big deal and at the amount of lies that she had told him that he fires her.
Her life seemed to be going downhill at a very strong pace when she meets a man named Charles (Colin Ferguson) who, shockingly, meets her impossible standards. She really likes the guy and spends one amazing evening in the park with him but just as her lies destroyed her career they destroy her chance to be with Charles. He thinks that she was going to have dinner with him so she could get the invitation from him.
Her whole life becomes a complete mess and with a last surge of desperation she climbs over a wall to get into the ball! There she confesses to have been a complete liar and comes clean about a lot of things.
This helps a lot and her life gets back on track. She lands her old job and the new guy!
The movie has a sweet Cinderella ending and a deep motive behind it but most of the humor in the movie seemed forced. The movie is rated R for some sexual content.
