Lee Ray Oliver (Ray Liotta) has been executed by lethal injection for the murder of several people or so they thought. He is given a second chance at life on one condition; he has to take part in a secret experimental medication that is said to be able to cure him of his violent nature. This experiment is conducted by a well know scientist, Dr. Miles Copeland (William Dafoe). It does not seem to work at first, but after increasing the dosage it seems to have a positive effect on Oliver. He actually goes back to visit one of his victims who survived his wrath, and attempts to become a changed man. He is then spotted by an individual who witnessed his supposed execution and without his medication his past starts to haunt him again.
