Detailed plot synopsis reviews of Double Whammy

Ray Pluto is a New York cop who happens to be in a fast food joint when a killer comes in and shoots six innocent bystanders. Because his back goes out, Ray can't reach for his gun in time, but a kid manages to grab it and blow away the bad guy. Ray is humiliated, and his captain, enraged, insists Ray seek medical attention for his back. Ray ends up in the office of an attractive chiropractor, Dr. Ann Beamer. Not only is Ann able to make Ray's back better, but she's also the first woman he's been attracted to since the deaths of his wife and little girl some time earlier.

While his back is out of whack, Ray is forced to spend time at home. He hangs out with the apartment super, who complains a lot about his teenaged daughter. Ray also agrees to advise two fledgling filmmakers living a few doors away as to how to make their script, about two gangsters, more realistic. When the super is bludgeoned in a vicious attack that echoes the neighbors' script, Ray devotes himself to solving the crime. If he can get the perps, he can help the super and, at the same time, restore his tarnished reputation.
