Actors: Matthew Broderick, Alan Ruck, Mia Sara

Detailed plot synopsis reviews of Ferris Bueller's Day Off

Everyone in the schoolyard looks up to Ferris Bueller. He is the ultimate skipper. Before graduating, he decides to this time skip school for a whole day, and go out into the city. Taking his best friend, Cameron, his girlfriend, Sloan, and a Ferrari with him, he has the whole day having fun. The headmaster, though, is suspicious, because he has skipped school for 9 days. His sister also knows his tricks, and knows he's been skipping. This film is very funny, and Matthew Broderick gives a stand-out performance as Ferris. John Hughes also has a brilliant direction, and Ben Stein is incredible in a small role as an economics teacher.

Ferris Bueller is a senior in high school in Chicago. He decides to take his 9th sick day in the semester, so he has to make it count. He gets his best friend and girlfriend to come along with him, all the while dodging his father and principal. Ferris escapes without a scratch, but does completely trash his best friend's father's 1961 Ferrari 250 GT California (worth $250,000).

Ferris Bueller, a smart high school senior but world-class slacker, wants a day off from school, and he wants his best friend Cameron Frye and girlfriend Sloane Peterson along. Ferris fakes sickness and drags along Cameron, who really is under the weather, and convince Cameron's Dad to lend the boys his beloved red Ferrari for the day. The three kids hit downtown Chicago and experience a fine restaurant, a baseball game, a parade, the tallest building, the art museum, the lakefront, and the stock market floor. (Keep an eye open for Charlie Sheen as a drug addict at the police station.) A suspicious Dean of Students (Jeffrey Jones) tracks Ferris all day but never quite catches him, while his sister Jeannie, envious that their parents adore Ferris and let him get away with everything, comes through in the clutch. This is a sweet, delightful 1986 John Hughes comedy, and fast-talking Matthew Broderick plays the title role to perfection.

Ferris is about to graduate but is already out of school in his mind. He is a professional school ditcher, and convinces the entire city of Chicago of his deathly illness. His motto is "Life moves pretty quick. If You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it." He needs a day off from his usual blank stare at the economics teacher, and he brings his depressed friend Cameron and his girlfriend Sloane along for the ride. They see everything there is to see in the city of Chicago, including Ferris on a German parade float. The principal, Mr. Rooney, is determined to stop Ferris, and as the city gathers around him to overcome his 'sickness', Mr. Rooney is never able to catch the kids.
