Sadie (Jason Leigh) has always depended upon and revered her older sister, Georgia (Winningham) who is now a famous singer. Sadie's desperate, near obsessive need to be accepted by her sister is constantly complicated – particularly by drugs and alcohol. In contrast, Georgia lives a conventional life with husband, house and children. Sadie seems to always be trying to impress and ingratiate herself with her sister while Georgia just wants a quiet life. The question remains whether the two can have a lasting, peaceful sibling relationship without driving each other crazy.
