Jean-Claude (Depardieu) and Jeannot (Dewaere) are small-time crooks who use to sleep in empty houses and steal all that meet their eyes. They are also obsessed by sex and they harrass every women in sight. During a wild journey in the French countryside in the company of Marie-Ange (Miou-Miou), a frigid young woman they want to cure, they will steal cars, motorcycles and even bicycles in order to escape the police forces looking for them and also meet a lot of women such as Brigitte Fossey, a young mother who'll treat them as her big babies, and Jeanne Moreau, an elder woman just out of prison, who'll teach them the things of love before committing suicide in their hotel room.
