Just when things are looking up, Heidi is kidnapped by her aunt, so that she can be a companion to Clara, a wheelchair-bound girl in Frankfort.

Although she is desperately homesick, Heidi befriends Clara, and tries to help her walk again. In the meantime, Clara's governess tries to make trouble for Heidi, and Heidi's grandfather treks across the mountains to rescue her.
