One of the planes, flying way up north begins collecting ice on the wings and engines. They're forced to make an emergency landing in the snow covered mountains near the arctic. With their battery low on power, they're only able to make a couple of calls for help, but are basically at the mercy of the mountains.

All of the other pilots begin an exhaustive search.
The stranded men make some shelter and do their best to battle the freezing temps. One of the men gets lost in a blizzard and succumbs to the elements.   With time running out, the other pilots continue their search.

At the limit of their searching capabilities, they hear the faint beep of an emergency beacon.   Miraculously, they spot their stranded compadres. They drop some supplies and a message of hope. The men now need only wait for the rescue planes.
