This is a story where true love wins over the fake love of a fan groupie. Queen Latifah plays the lead character who is Leslie Wright. She works in physical therapy and specializes in helping basketball players recover from injuries. Her best friend is Morgan (played by Paula Patton). Morgan has already decided to go after a famous basketball player to become her husband. This is what she wants more than anything. Both of them together follow the games of the team from New Jersey called the “Nets.”

The best player of the Nets is Scott McKnight (played by Common). Leslie meets him by accident in a filling station where they happen to both stop to get gas after a game. Scott tries to open the car door for Leslie but it is stuck. Seems like there is a place where the door was previously damaged that prevents the door from opening correctly. After this brief romantic encounter, Scott invites Leslie to the party for his birthday. Leslie goes, but she also takes Morgan along with her. When Scott sees Morgan he likes her. Morgan makes the moves to catch a basketball player as was her plan. Scott is immediately smitten. Morgan and Scott agreed to get married.
The big play-off games are coming up and Scott gets injured. This injury is very severe and may make it impossible for him to continue to play basketball. Morgan quickly dumps him when it seems like his career as a basketball player is over. Leslie, on the other hand, tries to help Scott recover. Everybody knows that if Scott does not make a full recovery by the play-offs then pretty much all is hopeless and he will not be able to continue to play basketball. Even though Scott is really shaken by Morgan's so quickly leaving him, Leslie continues to give him encouragement. Because of Leslie's care, Scott is able to get back into the game. After he has recovered, Morgan shows up again. Morgan tries to catch him again, but fails. Leslie gets a job as the first aid coach for the Nets. Scott soon realizes that it is Leslie who truly loves him and not Morgan.
Best part of story, including ending:
It is interesting to see that some women would go after a basketball player as a husband just to be a "trophy" wife which means to be taken care of by the rich guy.
Best scene in story:
I like the scene where Leslie is taking care of Scott and he notices for the first time that she loves him.
Opinion about the main character:
Leslie is really pure of heart and stands on the sidelines until she knows that Scott really loves her. It is nice to see that Scott chooses the best woman in the end.
