Michel Serrault, a former judge and businessman, hires Emmanuelle Béart as a secretary. Serrault dictates his memoirs to the young woman who's just left her husband. Between the old man who's become disillusioned and cynical over the years and the young woman, a feeling of mutual confidence, of tenderness and of unspoken love will slowly grow. When the book is written, both will be changed.
