DFirected by Richard Pearce, No Mercy stars Richard Gere as Chicago Police Officer Eddie Jillette. The movie opens with Eddie and his partner Joe (Gary Basaraba) working undercover in a car wash. They bust the criminal but all they find is some marijuana. After interrogating him they get some information about a hit that the criminal was supposed to pull off. Eddie jumps all over the idea and cajoles Joe into investigating it with him. They meet the man, Paul Deveneux, in a restaurant. With Paul is a beautiful blonde woman, Michel Duval (Kim Basinger). Eddie instantly falls for her but him and Joe take Paul outside to discuss this plan. They get in a car and go for a ride. When they stop at a railroad crossing Eddie sees he was being tailed and jumps out of the car. Paul is stuck and the gang that followed them blows up the car with Paul in it with a grenade launcher. Eddie then runs for his life and gets backs to Joe only to find him dead. The movie then shifts into high gear as Eddie seeks revenge for the death of his partner and goes down to New Orleans to find out more information. It all leads to a fiery, violent end with Eddie battling it out with Losado (Jeroen Krabbe).
