Montgomery Clift has just come from the East to work in the Eastman factory that belongs to his uncle he had until now almost no relations with. He must work at the factory assembly line where he meets Shelley Winters, a low-class girl who soon becomes pregnant. Meanwhile, Montgomery Clift falls madly in love with Elizabeth Taylor he's encountered while visiting his rich family. Shelley Winters wants him to marry her and threats him to inform his family of their relationship.
Superb performances of Clift, Taylor and Winters in this powerful social drama.
