After wresting the world championship from Apollo Creed (Carl Weathers), Rocky(Stallone) is now more into enjoying his wealth and fame, while beating up weaker opponents from time to time. That is, until he comes across a new fighther who desperately wants a shot at his belt - the ruthless Clubber Lang (Mr T). As the fight progresses, it becomes evident that Rocky has lost his edge. He is savagely beaten by Lang, who also accidentally lands a fatal punch on Rocky's trainer Mickey. Having lost his championship and more importantly his mentor, Rocky slips into depression. But Apollo Creed knows that Rocky still has it in him to beat the best and takes up the cudgels to get him back into the ring. He coaxes Rocky out of his hibernation and starts training him.The stage is set for a rematch, with the World Championship on the line.
